Breakdown Recovery in Newton Mearns: 24 Hour Local Response

The vehicles

A high proportion of what we recover here is prestige, all wheel drive, or both. Range Rover, BMW xDrive, Audi quattro, Mercedes 4Matic, Tesla and the rest.

That matters, because these cars must not be dragged with driven wheels turning. An all wheel drive system spun with the engine off can damage the transfer case and differentials, and the repair runs into thousands. Automatic gearboxes have the same problem, and electric vehicles cannot be towed on their driven wheels at all.

Everything goes on a flatbed. Aluminium extension ramps are on board for lowered cars and deep front splitters, and we check for transport mode on electric vehicles and for air suspension that has collapsed onto its bump stops before loading starts.

What we get called out for

Flat batteries first, and disproportionately so here, because a lot of these cars do short local journeys and carry heavy electrical loads. Modern prestige cars with keyless entry, telematics and comfort systems draw current constantly when parked.

Then air suspension failures, which drop the car onto its stops and make loading a specialist job. Then tyres, including run flats, which fail differently and cannot be plugged. Then electrical and module faults that immobilise an otherwise healthy car, and cars locked in park with a dead battery, which is a five minute job with skates and impossible without them.
