Fleet and Business Vehicle Recovery in Scotland

6 August 2026

Fleet recovery across the Central Belt and beyond. Priority dispatch, consolidated invoicing, pre agreed authorisation and workshops, so a vehicle off the road costs you the least time possible.

When a business vehicle stops, the cost is not the recovery. It is the job that did not happen, the delivery that was late, the engineer who did not arrive and the driver being paid to stand at the roadside.

Fleet recovery is therefore a different service from private recovery, measured on downtime rather than on price per job.

What slows a fleet recovery down

Almost never the truck. Almost always the admin.

The driver rings the recovery company but cannot authorise the spend. The recovery company needs a purchase order. The transport manager is asleep, because it is half five in the morning. Nobody is sure which workshop the vehicle should go to, or whether that workshop is open, or whether the vehicle is under warranty and therefore has to go to a dealer.

By the time all of that is resolved, an hour has gone that had nothing to do with the breakdown.

An account exists to remove every one of those steps in advance.

What a trade account sets up

Agreed before you need it, so a driver on a hard shoulder does not have to explain your company structure at four in the morning.

Authorisation. Who can approve, up to what value, and what happens outside that. Most accounts run on a standing authority up to an agreed figure, so routine recoveries just happen.

Vehicle list. Registrations, types, weights and any specific requirements. A tail lift, a high roof, a refrigerated body or a plated weight over three and a half tonnes all change which truck is sent, and having it on file means the right one goes first time.

Destinations. Your workshops, your dealers, your tyre suppliers, with opening hours and access notes.

Billing. Consolidated monthly invoicing rather than drivers paying by card and reclaiming it, which nobody enjoys and which makes cost reporting impossible.

Priority dispatch. Account vehicles are prioritised, because downtime is the product.

Details on our trade recovery and commercial recovery pages.

Where we cover

The base is in the Lanarkshire corridor, which puts us in the middle of the Central Belt.

Local coverage runs across Glasgow, Motherwell, Bellshill, Coatbridge, Cambuslang, Hamilton, Paisley, Clydebank, East Kilbride and the rest of the towns we serve, which is where most Scottish fleet mileage is actually done.

Beyond that we run the whole country: the M8 across to Edinburgh, the M74 south to Carlisle and England, the M80 and M9 north to Stirling and beyond, and across to Ayrshire, Fife, Dundee and Aberdeen.

What we recover

Cars and light commercials for sales fleets, service engineers and hire companies.

Vans of every configuration up to three and a half tonnes, including long wheelbase, Luton, tipper, dropside, caged and refrigerated.

Heavier vehicles through our HGV units, including rigids, tractor units and trailers.

Plant and machinery movement between sites, which for a lot of construction accounts is more regular work than the breakdowns.

Reducing the call outs in the first place

The failure pattern across fleets is consistent and largely addressable.

Tyres cause more commercial recoveries than anything else, and almost all of it is pressure and damage that a weekly walkaround would catch. Kerbing on sites, running at pressures set for an empty vehicle while loaded, and sidewall damage nobody looked for.

Batteries and charging systems fail early on vehicles carrying inverters, tail lifts, tracking units and tool charging, particularly on short urban duty cycles. Testing batteries across the fleet before winter removes a meaningful share of January call outs.

Diesel particulate filters block on vehicles that never get hot enough to regenerate, which is a duty cycle problem rather than a fault, and drivers should know what the warning means before it becomes a recovery.

AdBlue running out or faulting will immobilise a modern commercial completely, and drivers frequently do not know it exists.

Misfuelling happens disproportionately to drivers who move between vehicles.

We can report back on what we attend across your fleet, which usually shows a pattern worth acting on.

Getting set up

Setting up an account takes one conversation and it is worth having before the first breakdown rather than during it.

Quick answers

What does a fleet account give me that calling ad hoc does not? Priority dispatch, pre agreed authorisation so drivers do not wait for approval, your workshops on file, and consolidated invoicing.

Do you recover vehicles over three and a half tonnes? Yes, including rigids, tractor units and trailers on our heavy units.

Can you take vehicles to our own workshop? Yes, held on file with opening hours and access notes so the driver goes straight there.

Do you cover the whole of Scotland? Yes, with the Central Belt as the core and nationwide coverage including runs into England.
